Posted Tuesday, June 30th, 2009 by admin

1) Zach has a Clear Vision for Our State:

From better schools and universities to healthier children and families — from more high-wage jobs to a modern infrastructure with better roads, bridges and broadband — from strong and conservative state fiscal management to just saying “no” to a state income tax — Zach Wamp has a clear vision of what we need to do to create an even better and brighter Tennessee and to move our state up in the national rankings.

2) Zach has a Bold Plan for the Future:

Zach Wamp is the only candidate in the race with the proven experience, energy and passion to get this state excited again around a bold plan to create the high-paying jobs of the future. His creation and bipartisan leadership of the nationally-recognized and highly-successful Tennessee Valley Technology Corridor has already helped create thousands of new jobs and billions of dollars of new investment in our state. Recent next-generation manufacturing successes in his district from Volkswagen in Chattanooga to Wacker Chemie in Cleveland/Bradley County, even in the midst of a national recession, did not just happen by accident. They took clear vision, regional partnerships and hard work. Now Zach will expand his leadership to the rest of the state to create the kinds of jobs and opportunities we need to grow our state economy, put folks back to work, keep our taxes low and raise family incomes for all Tennesseans.

Now Zach’s campaign for Governor will be the biggest and best grassroots campaign ever assembled in Tennessee Republican history with lots of opportunities for input, leadership and participation. 7) Zach starts with the Strongest Republican Base:

During his 15 years in the Congress, Zach Wamp has already been elected by, represented and served 17 East Tennessee counties that represent about 17 percent of the likely GOP Primary vote — a huge head-start in a crowded Primary field. Plus, through his public service and as the founder and leader of the regional Tennessee Valley Technology Corridor, Zach is also very well-known, liked and respected throughout Tennessee’s Second Congressional, which represents another 15 percent of the likely GOP vote, and in the First Congressional District, which represents another 14 percent of the likely GOP primary vote. Starting with this strong and proven East Tennessee base of support and the highest statewide Name ID among the GOP candidates, Zach is now aggressively expanding his reach and populist campaign throughout Middle and West Tennessee.

8) Zach will have the Money it Takes to Win:

Although he may not spend the most by any candidate in the Primary, Zach Wamp will have the funding it will take to win this campaign. The Wamp campaign has put together a winning campaign plan for the Republican Primary — and is already ahead of schedule in raising the money needed to fully fund it. Bill Baxter, Knoxville business leader, former TVA chairman and former commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Economic Development is serving as State Finance Chairman — and Zach and Bill are building the statewide finance organization needed to raise the money it will take to win.

Campaign Veterans Tout Top Ten Reasons Zach Wamp will be TN’s Next Governor

Posted Saturday, June 27th, 2009 by admin

Nashville, Tenn. — Today, the Zach Wamp for Governor campaign unveiled ten of the top reasons why Zach Wamp will be the next Governor of Tennessee.

Among the top reasons Wamp campaign chairman Bob Davis and campaign strategist John Crisp cite are Wamp’s clear priorities and plans to move Tennessee forward — Wamp’s recognized leadership and success in creating more higher-paying jobs in the Tennessee Valley Technology Corridor — his well-known abilities as a effective executive, leader, motivator and communicator — and Wamp’s clear advantage in starting from and building upon the largest proven base of support in the Republican primary.

“John and I have been around the track many times and we have had the opportunity to work for some of our party’s most respected candidates and public servants over the past 30 years,” said Bob Davis, a former chairman of the Tennessee Republican Party and longtime top aide to former U.S. Senator Fred Thompson. “And I must tell you, Zach Wamp has the energy, intellect and passion to be among the very best I have ever had the pleasure to work with or be around. Zach has a clear vision on how he wants to create jobs and move our state forward, and I am convinced he will be the next Governor of Tennessee.”

Other top leaders and regular voters who have worked with and know Zach Wamp well are also singing his praises through a series of video testimonials now on YouTube and on the Wamp campaign web site at www.zachwamp.com/10reasons. Among those featured in the short video testimonials are Knoxville business leader and former TVA chairman Bill Baxter; State Rep. Gerald McCormick; Clinton, TN city manager Steve Jones; Chattanooga business leader and CPA Tom Decosimo; well-known East Tennessee real estate developer John “Thunder” Thornton; Zach’s mother, Beth Wamp; as well as Dr. Fred Steelman, who was the Wamp’s long-time pastor at the Red Bank Baptist Church; and many others.

“What is clear from those who know him best is that Zach Wamp brings together the very best qualities from some of the most effective Republican statesmen in the history of our state,” said John Crisp, a veteran campaign consultant and longtime top aide to now U.S. Senator and former Governor Lamar Alexander.

“Zach combines the clear vision and laser-like focus of a Lamar Alexander, the energy and drive of a Bob Corker, the command of complex issues like a Bill Frist or a Bill Brock, the common sense and straight talk of a Fred Thompson, and the ability to relate to and communicate with folks from all walks of life like a Winfield Dunn or a Howard Baker. That makes Zach a uniquely talented candidate and a major political force, and I believe his momentum will simply be unstoppable as voters in Middle and West Tennessee get to know him as well as folks already do in East Tennessee.”

Well-known as a dynamic and visionary leader during his more than 14 years of serving Tennessee’s 3rd congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives, Zach Wamp is now offering his energy, enthusiasm and executive leadership to all Tennesseans.

A Chattanooga native, Zach spent twelve years working as a small businessman and commercial real estate broker, where he was named Chattanooga’s “Small Business Person of the Year,” before being elected to Congress. The founder of the nationally-recognized “Tennessee Valley Technology Corridor” economic development organization, Wamp is perhaps best-known for his highly-successful efforts to create more higher-paying jobs for Tennesseans. Zach Names Statewide Leadership Team

Posted Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009 by admin

Nashville, Tenn — Zach Wamp, Republican candidate for Governor, continued to set the pace in the 2010 Governor’s race by releasing today the names of more than 250 Tennessee leaders from all across the state that are already actively working in their local communities on his rapidly-expanding grassroots campaign.

“I am very pleased and honored that so many local leaders in every corner of our state are willing to lend their time, talent and treasure to our campaign so early and to help us build our winning campaign organization in their local counties and communities,” Wamp said.

“These folks are not just passive supporters. They are active volunteers who believe as I do that with a clear 20/20 vision for Tennessee’s future, we can create the kinds of jobs and opportunities we need to grow our state’s economy, to put folks back to work, to keep our taxes low and to raise family incomes for all Tennesseans,” Wamp said.

Wamp said today’s list of local campaign leaders is just a representative sample and a snapshot in time of those who are already hard at work in support of his campaign. He said the list of active county and community campaign leaders is growing daily as he moves across the state on his ongoing listening and learning tour.

“These early volunteers are vitally important because the next Governor of Tennessee is not going to be chosen by big money. The next Governor of Tennessee is going to be chosen by the people,” Wamp said. “With the help of these key leaders — and the help of thousands of others that will be joining them in the days ahead, we are putting together the biggest and best grassroots campaign ever assembled in Tennessee Republican history with lots of opportunities for input, leadership and participation at every level.”

Today’s announcement is just the latest by Wamp in a series of key organizing steps unveiled by his growing campaign. Wamp had previously announced the team of campaign professionals who will be handling all polling, advertising, direct mail, and voter outreach efforts for his campaign — as well as a group of experienced Tennessee campaign and fundraising veterans, led by former Tennessee Republican Party chairman Bob Davis and former TVA chairman Bill Baxter, who are leading his statewide campaign.

From better schools and universities to healthier children and families — from more high-wage jobs to a modern infrastructure with better roads, bridges and broadband — from strong and conservative state fiscal management to just saying “no” to a state income tax — Zach Wamp has a clear 20/20 vision of what we need to do to create an even better and brighter Tennessee and to move our state up in the national rankings.

The founder of the nationally-recognized “Tennessee Valley Technology Corridor” economic development organization, Zach Wamp has become well-known as a dynamic and visionary leader during the past 15 years of serving Tennessee’s 3rd congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives.

“Thanks to the generous support and hard work by so many Knoxville supporters, we did what many did not expect. We came into town and raised more than a quarter million dollars at tonight’s event alone,” Wamp told those assembled in Knoxville.

“While we are taking nothing for granted, I am pleased to report we are way ahead of where we expected to be in fundraising so early in this campaign,” Wamp said. “And I am particularly humbled and gratified to have demonstrated so much early support right here in Knoxville.”

The announcement came during the fundraising event that was co-hosted by Bill and Ginger Baxter, Darrell and Deborah Akins, and two dozen other Knox-area leaders.

Wamp Off to Fast Fundraising Start

Posted Sunday, June 21st, 2009 by admin

Chattanooga, TN — Congressman Zach Wamp announced tonight during a fundraising event in Chattanooga that he has already received cash and commitments of more than $1 million dollars in his campaign for Governor.

The announcement came during Wamp’s first major campaign fundraising event in the Chattanooga home of Eileen and John “Thunder” Thornton that was co-hosted by more than four dozen other East Tennessee leaders. The honorary chair of the event was former U.S. Senator Bill Brock who has already publicly endorsed Wamp in his campaign for Governor.

“Tonight, thanks to the generous support and hard work by so many people, we exceeded all expectations and raised more than $600,000 from tonight’s event alone for my campaign for Governor,” Wamp told those assembled in Chattanooga. “And with hundreds of thousands more dollars in specified pledges both from tonight and in support of upcoming events, I am pleased to report that we are way ahead of where we expected to be so early. I am humbled and gratified that we have so quickly crossed the $1 million dollar mark in cash and commitments in just about three short weeks of active campaign fundraising.”

Wamp said tonight’s event in Chattanooga would be the first of dozens of large and small fundraising events that will be organized during the next two years to build continued support for his statewide campaign for Governor.

“I am very grateful to leaders like Thunder Thornton and Bill Brock and to so many others who have generously contributed and pledged their early support to me,” Wamp said. “And I am especially grateful to all of those who have gone to my web site at www.ZachWamp.com, and contributed whatever amount, large or small, that they were able to contribute in these tough economic times.”

“The people of Tennessee will ensure that money alone will not decide the outcome of this race for Governor, and we may not end up raising and spending the most money in this race, but we feel confident we will meet our goals to be successful on election day, “Wamp told those assembled. “And after traveling all around the state this past month, I can also report to you that we already have what no other campaign has in all three grand divisions of our state — and that is the vision, energy, passion and support needed to create a better and brighter Tennessee for our children and grandchildren.”

Known as a dynamic and visionary regional leader during his more than 14 years in the U.S. House of Representatives, Zach Wamp is now offering his energy, tenacity and executive leadership to all Tennesseans. A Chattanooga native, Zach spent twelve years as a small businessman and commercial real estate broker before being elected to Congress. He and his wife, Kim, have a son, Weston, and a daughter, Coty, in college at the University of Tennessee. Zach’s family actively attends Red Bank Baptist Church, where he has helped lead an adult Sunday school class for nearly two decades.
